Randy Jackson and Daphna Ziman talk about the real meaning of the Oscars and saving the Children


BlackTree TV's Ferrari Cruz sits down with music legend Randy Jackson and philanthropist Daphna Ziman in Beverly Hills to talk about the true meaning of the Oscar's.

Children Uniting Nations (CUN) along with The Hollywood Reporter and
TV Guide Magazine, have joined forces to celebrate the Academy Awards® in style; at the 11th Annual Children Uniting Nations Awards Celebration and After Party to benefit foster children and at risk youth.

Hollywood's brightest stars and industry executives will come together not only to celebrate the dreams that are created within the entertainment industry, but also, to ensure that such dreams can be possible for our children's futures as well. This black tie event will take place at The Beverly Hilton and will include a delicious dinner designed by two culinary masterminds; celebrity chef Stefano Tedeschi of Stefanos Italian Grille, and Suki Sugiura, Executive Chef at The Beverly Hilton, which will be enjoyed as partygoers watch the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. During dinner, CUN founder Daphna Ziman will present special awards to an elite group of community, national and global heroes who have changed the lives of children in the past year. Poker pro and eleven-time World Series of Poker champion Phil Hellmuth Jr. will co-host the CUN Celebrity Poker Contest with actor Miguel Nunez, which will be directed by Yosh Nakano, President of the International Poker Players Association.

Children Uniting Nations extends their heartfelt appreciation to Aqua Hydrate,
La Tavola, Presidential Inner Circle and Stefanos Italian Grille for their support at this years event. CUN will also host a silent and live auction, featuring special packages and once in a lifetime experiences donated by some very recognizable names in music, TV, film and sports. 100% of the proceeds raised will go to support CUNs programs for foster children and at risk youth.

Following the Awards telecast, the CUN After Party begins with performances from an exciting group of artists including platinum recording artist and American Idol finalist Elliott Yamin, Tennman Recording Artist Matt Morris, European songstress Camille OSullivan, as well as MC Lyte on the turn tables.

Daphna Edwards Ziman began her career in the entertainment industry when she founded Unicorn Records, the first punk rock record company in the world. She was nominated for a Grammy as a record producer for the "the Riper, the Finer" album, the band she signed Black Flag had the longest running number one album on the independent chart. Daphna went on to work with MTV as a consultant and directed videos and movies. Daphna is now the President of an independent film and television production company, Edwards Entertainment International. She has written, directed, and produced films including Footsteps, which screened on Showtime and won a Viewers Choice Award in Europe.

Daphna is also the chairperson and founder of Children Uniting Nations, a proactive organization created to elevate child welfare to the forefront of the world's consciousness. Children Uniting Nations (CUN) was founded to provide the children of the world with a voice to discuss the threats and dangers of tomorrow's problems. These problems include foster care, the abuse and pollution of the world's environment, the justice system as it relates to the rights of the child, hunger and other concerns that will affect the future of our world.

Daphna Edwards Ziman has committed herself to challenging and changing the injustices that plague our society in many ways, focusing particularly on the needs of children. Currently, she serves on the Board of Trustees of Childrens Institute International, which specializes in the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect and is chairperson of ABC LOVE (Adoption Brings Children Love), which is committed to finding and placing children in caring and loving families. With equal tenacity she is on the board of HIPPY (Home Instruction for Pre-School Youngsters), as well as, The Unusual Suspects Theatre Company, which brings theatre arts to at-risk and disadvantaged youth in Los Angeles, California.
